The Unclaimed Assets Scheme will be a government initiative where a balance on any lost or dormant accounts is transferred into an independent fund. The money will be used to benefit various community, social and environmental projects.
The definition of a 'dormant' or 'lost' account being used is where an account has not been used for 15 years. However if you have another account with us that is being used we will not transfer your dormant account money to the central fund, as your relationship with us is still active.
If you think you may have an account with first direct please contact us on 03 456 100 100.
If you have an account number, please have this ready when you call.
If your relationship has been inactive for a period of 15 years or more, your funds will be passed to a central account held by the Government.
